Enhancing Economic Growth in the Shafat Cluster through Strategic Sector Development and Productive Entity Support – COMPLETED

Funded by KfW and implemented by UNDP, this project supported local economic recovery in the Shafat Cluster in Akkar Governorate. BIAT mapped and profiled productive entities, assessed priority value chains, and developed targeted interventions for at least 60 MSMEs, farmers, and cooperatives. The initiative aimed to improve competitiveness, protect and create jobs, and strengthen sustainable economic activity across agriculture, agro-food, light manufacturing, tourism, and other locally relevant sectors.

Key activities included business assessments, training and technical coaching, branding and market-access support, compliance guidance, and the provision of equipment and other in-kind assistance. The project also strengthened cooperation among businesses, local authorities, and community stakeholders while establishing a database to support planning, monitoring, and future local economic development initiatives.
