FIELD – Food Innovation for Enterprises, Livelihoods & Development was a WFP-supported livelihoods project implemented by BIAT in Akkar and North Lebanon. It supported 30 smallholder farmers, agricultural cooperatives, and food-related MSMEs across priority value chains including dairy, cereals and pulses, greenhouse vegetables, and hydroponic fodder, with an expected indirect reach of at least 210 household members, employees, and family members.
The project combined transparent beneficiary selection, business diagnostics, training, technical assistance, research with the University of Balamand, and product, water, and soil testing through CCIAT’s accredited laboratories. BIAT also facilitated access to domestic and export markets, financial literacy and banking services, digital payments, loan and grant preparation, and tailored in-kind support of up to USD 10,000 per beneficiary, including a beneficiary contribution.
