GRANT DISTRIBUTION

Within the activities of “Youth @ Work FAYHAA”, a projectsponsored by the Arab Urban Development Institute, in partnership with the Union of Al-Fayhaa Municipalities, the International Youth Foundation and implemented by BIAT, a 6 day workshop for the 14 selected NGOs and CBOs took place on BIAT premises, from the 15th to the 24th of April, 2013.

The purpose of the workshops is to train NGOs and CBOs from the Al Fayhaa region on the necessary and helpful tools to manage their organizations more efficiently, and provide them with the knowledge and expertise on how to teach youth valuable skills to make them more employable, or future entrepreneurs.

Upon completion of the workshop and submission of project proposals, three NGOs/CBOs out of several working in the Al-Fayhaa area have been awarded a financial donation of 25,000 U.S. dollars each.

The winning organizations that were nominated based on the technical and financial evaluation criteria are as follow: “New Youth Generation”-Mina, “Ribat Association”-Beddawi, and “IT Association”-Tripoli.

Each one of them is going to conduct a Passport to Success® (PTS) program that targets youth, aged between 16 and 29, who are either in school but at risk of dropping out, or are out of school, out of work, or working in dangerous environments. The aim of this training is to equip young people with a range of skills (e.g., confidence, teamwork, goal setting, time management) to help them stay in school, find employment, and succeed in life.

Several activities will be undertaken as part of the implementation of the action plan that will end in September. Based on that, Ribat Association will be providing cooling, montage, video and esthetic training. New Youth Generation will conduct entrepreneurship, graphic design, photography, video editing, hairdressing, makeup, gardening and soap making sessions. Finally, IT Association will present computer main, mobile development and maintenance, mobile main, html5, AutoCAD, Photoshop, business language and life skills courses.
